There are books written on this ‘Little Critical Stroke’ … 40% to 60% of the score. Here are a couple small details for you. Hope they are useful and helpful?

STANCE … Width is best on the narrow side with feet ‘Under Your Armpits’. Need to tell you, however, that there have been some very efficient and successful ‘Putters’ who employed a very wide stance outside their Shoulder Sockets. Why? Because it somewhat locked up the user’s hip sockets. This stabilized the tendency to ‘Get Lateral - Sway & Slide’. Needless to say, this tends to make your ‘Pivot Axis and Clubhead Control’ a bit of a hazardous crap-shoot.

… Foot Aim is important. With ‘Putting’, because there is ‘No Pivot’ required ‘Square Square’ is suggested.

How do we know what the condition of the green is and does it matter? A lot of serious golfers do very little to evaluate what Mother Nature is doing with her grass on the ‘Dance Floor’. That would be a mistake!

You ‘555 Golf Brethren’ know our ‘8 Step Putting & Chipping Pre Shot Routines’ will help us discover truth while building ‘Confidence, Comfort and Consistency’. There is a very bright question very few golfers ask! You may not have thought of this? Have you asked the Head or Assistant Pro shop personnel what strain of grass is resident on their teeing and putting grounds. An alternative is to ask the Greens-Keepers. Different grasses have variable characteristics. How many different types of grass can you name? They all have variable grains!

Volition is one of the most powerful words in our language. It’s meaning is the ‘Power Of Choice’. During every day of our life we are free to choose. We have the God-given ‘Freedom of Speech’ as well as the ‘Freedom Of Association’ and to choose. ‘Free Will’ warrants attention, gratitude and reverence.

We can make a positive or negative choice. We can grip uncommon grit or just go along for the ride and achieve mediocrity. If blessed, we can follow our hearts and minds. That will most assuredly lead to capturing dreams in many forms! Manifold and unexpected rewards shall prevail. We must evaluate and understand our choices. Allow them to accumulate and culminate. In this manner one shall formulate and accomplish a legacy. How special is the wonder of leaving something behind for fellow man to enjoy in a future moment?

When selecting grass for a golf course there are many factors to take into consideration, such as the region’s climate, where on the golf course the grass is to be planted (fairway, greens, tee boxes, rough) how much traffic the grass can withstand, how quickly the grass can repair itself, the soil type(s) on the course and more minutia that affect successful agronomy. The greens keepers need to be cogniscent of proximity to creeks and ponds! Rodent populations must be monitored and managed.

The grasses you select for a golf course will need to withstand the full range of temperatures in that region (heat and cold) need to be tough so as to be able to withstand any heavy foot traffic without breaking down. This is known as resilience.

We golf teachers hear the question regularly, “What the heck is that?” A lot of good global residents have never ‘Skipped Rocks’ on a glassy pond or quietly flowing wide spot on a meandering creek. Using a fairly flat Frisbee shaped rock helps. Out of round rocks tend to make one ungainly splash and sink to the bottom. That does not qualify as a ‘Skip’! Experts can create 12 to 15 skips! That is a solid athletic accomplishment demanding speed and solid mechanics!

Without question, the sidearm to underhand baseball throw tends to be most successful. This produces a shallow or low-flying ‘Angle Of Attack’ and thus that skip. “Time For A Feel!”

Pay particular attention as to your mechanics in slow motion at first. Increase your delivery velocity after about 5 ‘Slow Motion Reps’. You shall soon discover that your ‘Lower Body Machine’ (LBM) leads while your ‘Upper Body Machine’ (UBM) lags. (see ‘Bull-Whipping’) Your ‘Target Foot’ leads or steps into the delivery, somewhat like throwing a bowling ball. The softball underhanded pitch is a good example too.

555 Family Members are all aware of ‘The Tetherball Concept’. You know, that really fun two-person schoolyard round and round game that uses the ball, rope and pole?

The top of the pole is stationery or fixed in place. It is orbitally and gyroscopically stable. If it were not, the game would be very much more difficult … far too many variably moving parts!

If a golfer’s head were to move all over the place during the ‘Back & Up and Down & Out Swings’, stability of the entire Body Machine would deteriorate radically resulting in one’s struggling to make pure contact of the ball on ‘Clubface Sweet Spot’. Getting the ball-flight to go from A To B would be more than frustrating! That damning quotient would go up and golf participation would go down even more! Golf scores have not changed in over 100 years! Nice people without professional tutelage still play to a troubling 100 - 120!

Humans accomplish ‘Power To Do Work’ in many varieties. Think of the simple process of ‘Ambulating or Walking’ … on the flat, uphill or downhill. Without factoring important ‘Weight Shift In The Total Circle’, forward, backwards or sideways, our legs provide ‘Thrust’ in three forms … 1) Push, 2) Neutral and 3) Pull.

This applies to a large number of activities … baseball throwing, bating, hockey, tennis and more.

Walking deserves a moment of our time? The back or Brace Foot provides ‘Push or Propulsion’. The front or Target Foot is servient and provides balance and stability. We do not ‘Pull’ our body mass forward by dragging the Brace Foot forward. ‘Power’ is primarily a ‘Brace Side Task’.

Most strike circumstances in golf are simpler than one might envision. One must be logical.

What is “Hardpan”? It is definitely a ‘Tight Lie’ meaning with but a minimum of grass or no grass and just packed hard dirt! More like sitting on the kitchen floor than on an ideal ‘Proud Grass Lie’. This teacher sees an ideal lie as being similar to sitting on a very short tee, 3/16 to 3/8 of an inch above the dirt. It is desirable to strike the Clubface on about the 4th or 5th score line.

What might we do if faced with a ‘Hardpan Lie’ in the ‘Approach or Short Game Environment’?

The ‘Lever Assembly’ is the ‘Shoulder Socket, Upper Arm, Elbow, Forearm, Wrist and Hand. We have two ‘Lever Assemblies’, the Target or Swing Lever (on the Target or Flag Stick Side) as well as the Brace or Hitting Lever (on the Back and Up Load Swing Side).

There is a plethora of ‘Golf Advice’ that seriously promotes a ‘Straight or even Stiff Target Lever’. We are not going to defend or criticize that premise at this juncture. The 555 Team is, however, going to tell you the scientific truth that underlies the statement.
